Château Pichon Baron, located in Pauillac on the left bank of Bordeaux, is one of the most prestigious Deuxièmes Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 classification. A direct neighbour of Latour, the estate produces powerful, deep wines that are built to age, in a style that is resolutely classic and elegant.

Blend for the 2011 vintage

82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot

Tasting notes

    - Colour: Deep ruby with purple highlights.

    - Nose: Elegant and concentrated, revealing aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blueberry), graphite, cedar, liquorice and a subtle touch of vanilla.

    - Palate: Straightforward attack, with fine, firm tannins. The wine evolves harmoniously towards a long, fresh, mineral and spicy finish. Very good tension.

Food & wine

Perfect with :

    - Filet of beef Rossini, grilled entrecôte, rack of lamb

    - Roast game (venison, pheasant)

    - Dishes with truffles or mushrooms

    - Hard cheeses (mature Comté, aged Mimolette)

Cellaring potential

Already pleasant after aeration, Pichon Baron 2011 will improve in the cellar for another 15 to 20 years. Its balance and freshness make it an excellent medium-term choice.
