Château Nenin 2019, Pomerol - Parker 93-95+
(€120.00 L)
Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it’s rich and enveloping, with a generous heart of fruit and smooth structuring tannins.
Winery and Vineyards: The vineyard of Château Nénin stretches continuously, save for a single plot. However, the Grand Vin is produced only from the very best parcels, comprising 8 hectares of the finest clay-gravel soils located on the Pomerol plateau. The adjoining plots, which lie lower down, are designated for the production of the second wine, la Fugue de Nénin. As a result, its terroir encompasses the full range of soils that characterize Pomerol. It is primarily made up of Oligocene deposits covered by alluvial gravel formations from the Dordogne; siliceous clay and gravels, quartz, granite, iron dross, and basalt pebbles. The vines of Château Nénin are planted on the Pomerol plateau.
Tasting: Predominantly a Merlot blend, complemented by 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Nenin reveals notes of sweet berries and plums, framed by creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it’s rich and enveloping, with a generous heart of fruit and smooth structuring tannins. Four hectares on gravelly soils adjacent to Trotanoy lend structure, but the 2019 is so polished straight out of the gate that it might be easy to overlook.
Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany a partridge pâté with truffles.
