General description

The 2013 Château Pontet-Canet is a red wine from the prestigious Pauillac appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate, which is classified as a 5ᵉ Grand Cru in the 1855 classification, is known for its biodynamic cultivation and its very natural approach to viticulture.

Composition

    - 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot, 4 % Cabernet Franc, 1 % Petit Verdot

Nose and mouth

The nose is precise and subtle, characterised by aromas of black fruits, violets, graphite and a hint of liquorice and cocoa. There are also notes of light tobacco and cedar wood, which are typical of great Pauillacs.

On the palate, the wine shows a beautiful elegance with a soft but present structure. The tannins are melted and the well-integrated acidity provides freshness and balance. The wine lingers on the palate with a fine woody and mineral finish.

Wine and food recommendations

This Pontet-Canet 2013 goes perfectly with a grilled beef steak, a duck breast, a fillet of venison or a nice piece of lamb with herbs. It can also go very well with mature cheeses such as Comté or an old Gouda.
