Winemaker and Vineyard: The terroir of Monbousquet is truly exceptional, featuring warm, deep gravel soils in the southern part and sandy-clay soils in the north. Much like Cheval Blanc and Figeac, the vineyard has predominantly gravelly soils that allow for the perfect ripening of Cabernets, accounting for their significant presence in the overall varietal mix.

Tasting: The 2014 Monbousquet starts with a somewhat broody nose that gradually opens to black rather than red fruit, maintaining that subtle cedar-like note initially remarked upon. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, appearing a bit compact and perhaps lacking some of the "flow" and depth found in better vintages of Monbousquet. It may require a sultry period before opening up, so it's advised to wait three or four years before enjoying. (robertparker.com, 31.03.2017)

Service: Serve at room temperature to accompany a beef steak with goat cheese.
