Wonderful red colour with purple undertone. Very scented nose with fragrance of coffee, mocha, violet, blackberry, blackcurrant and a touch of cinnamon. The palate reveals tastes of dark chocolate, candied fruits and kirsch with notes of oak. A classy wine with a good aging potential.
This vintage is outstanding for its display of well ripened fruit, fine, plump tannins, and a good freshness to ensure classic balance.
(...) the 2017 Canon la Gaffelière comes roaring out of the glass with exuberant notes of baked blackberries, blueberry compote and redcurrant jelly plus hints of forest floor, dried roses and cedar chest with a waft of fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic density with a firm frame of finely grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with lingering layers of bright, energetic fruit. robertparker.com
(...) the 2017 Grand-Puy-Lacoste was aged in French oak barriques, 75% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple coloured, it opens with notes of fresh black raspberries, kirsch and crushed black and red currants with hints of spice box, fragrant soil and potpourri. Medium-bodied, the palate is frisky and fresh with a moderate level of approachable, soft tannins and compelling restraint on the finish. robertparker.com
Elegant, crunchy black fruits on the nose and florality and ripeness on the palate. Typical classy Giscours with seductive charm and elegant tannins.
“(…) Dense ruby/purple in color, it has sweet, juicy, blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, no real evidence of any oak, but a fleshy, open-knit, meaty mouthfeel. Excellent purity, low acidity and ripe tannin all characterize this beautiful wine (…).” WA 88 (The Wine Advocate | 218)
