The 2018 Pichon-Longueville Baron is made up of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot. The Merlot was harvested September 24-25, and the Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested October 3-10. The wine is to be aged 18 months in barriques, 80% new and 20% one year old, and production represents 50% of the harvest this year. Very deep purple-black colored, it begins a little coy, rolling slowly and languidly out of the glass with notions of baked raspberries, blueberry coulis, crème de cassis and incense plus nuances of lilacs, truffles, damp soil and garrigue with wafts of lavender and wild sage. Full-bodied, voluptuous and oh-so-seductive, the palate reveals layer upon layer of savory, earthy and black fruit preserves, framed by wonderfully ripe, velvety tannins and lovely freshness, finishing very long and perfumed. Beautiful. robertparker.com

“Perfumed, floral notes suggestive of violets, crushed stone and blueberry aromas. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and lush but not over the top, showing great balance and elegance on the lengthy finish.” Parker 93 (The Wine Advocate | 236)

A deep ruby colour and aromas lightly highlighting vanilla. In the mouth the wine is all softness and generosity. This is a classic vintage, soft and supple, full of charm. The palate is predominated by fruit like strawberry and red currant, which evolve to subtle game flavours on the finish. This wine is characterized by an upfront purity and finesse.

The 1995 vintage exhibits wonderful dark cherry and leather notes. Medium bodied with well integrated tannins and a nice earthy spice on the finish. A true expression of a classic Lynch-Bages.

(...) 2017 Palmer gives a very serious nose of pronounced blackcurrant cordial, warm plums and blackberry preserves with hints of cedar chest, pencil shavings, violets, dark chocolate and star anise plus exotic wafts of sandalwood and cassia. Medium-bodied, the palate features fantastically vibrant, crunchy black fruits with a firm texture of ripe, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing very long and mineral laced.
