Winemaker and vineyard : Created in the 17th century, this 4th Grand Cru Classé was, following several successions, fragmented and dispersed. Fortunately and tenaciously, in 1982, Henri Martin was able to reconstitute the property as known in 1855, the year of the famous classification. Since then, thanks to the investment of the owners, Saint-Pierre is recognized by all as a perfect representative of the Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Julien.

Tasting : A soft, somewhat fleshy and opulent style of St.-Julien, this 2012 has a deep ruby/purple color, good minerality, moderate tannin, and a full but more precocious and accessible style than its neighbors such as Léoville Poyferré and Beychevelle. This is more along the lines of the juicy, succulent Talbot, but certainly has aging potential. Two to four years of bottle age is recommended and then consumption over the following two decades. robertparker.com (04.30.2015)

Service : Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany a confit wild boar haunch.
