Winemaker and vineyard: In 1987, Michel Coudroy bought this small vineyard of 2 ha from the Mathias family. It is located between the prestigious grounds of Trotanoy, Petrus, Certan and Le Pin but has never been officially classified. Although, its wines have always been among the best Pomerols – in 1929, they were classified as 1° Cru. The vineyard consists of old Merlot vines.

Tasting: This pure Merlot is characteristic by its finesse and elegance. Only a few wines combine strength and fruit so perfectly, which makes it a very balanced wine. The old vines (up to 70 years) and the vinification in new oak barrels make it a wine of high quality which can be kept for 15 to 20 years.

A deep ruby color and aromas lightly highlighting vanilla. In the mouth the wine is all softness and generosity. This is a classic vintage, soft and supple, full of charm. The palate is predominated by fruit like strawberry and red currant, which evolve to subtle game flavors on the finish. This wine is characterized by an upfront purity and finesse.

It boasts an inky/ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of lead pencil, ripe cherries and black currants, and hints of earth and vanillin. Dense, chewy, fleshy, and full-bodied, this beauty will be drinkable in 3-4 years, and should keep for 15-20.

The robe is silky with an average intensity and a beautiful cherry red colour. The nose is very expressive and concentrated, slightly sweet and woody, with a mixture of red fruit aromas, raspberry, and morello cherry. The palate is powerful and racy, combining suppleness and tight tannins. With beautiful length in the mouth, this is a well balanced and accessible wine.

Deep ruby; its complex nose offers a great intensity of red fruits (raspberry, strawberry and cherry) when it is young then dark fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) after few years. In the mouth, you can find some spicy notes as pepper and nutmeg when it starts to be aged.

A champion of longevity. Even when young, Talbot is pleasant and rounded, ever distinguished by silky, mild and very civilized tannins. It’s a racy wine, with complex marks of Havana and licorice, classically delicious without ever the slightest hint of austerity.
